Excessive pressure protection
If gas discharge is prevented or blocked, the maximum capacity of the tank can be exceeded in a way that could lead to explosion under various operating conditions such as filling, overfilling, fermentation or chemical reactions. A spring-loaded safety valve manufactured and validated according to the Pressure Equipment Directive is part of the fitting and provides protection against overpressure. 
 

Vacuum protection
If discharge, leakage, chemical reactions, cooling of contents or vapor condensation, gas supply or ventilation are prevented or blocked, it can cause the tank pressure to drop below the minimum, leading to explosion. A spring-loaded or weight-loaded vacuum valve is part of the fitting and provides protection against vacuum.
