DIFFICULTY
It is vital that food and beverage facility operators always know the position of valves to ensure a reliable and trouble-free process flow. This type of position feedback sensor presents challenges such as jamming hazards and lack of visual valve position identification.
The most cost-effective solution to achieve this is to use external proximity sensors. This type of position feedback is far from ideal due to safety risks, cleaning difficulties, and obstructed view. Proper finger protection must be installed around moving parts to prevent the risk of limb entrapment during valve switching operations. Such a structure can negatively affect the visual identification of valve position and may require corresponding edges, gaps, and undercuts on the cover. This makes cleaning of external surfaces difficult.
SOLUTION
Pentair Südmo's SensoTop Valve Position Feedback Unit was developed to overcome this difficulty. Using inductive magnetic coils, feedback fields for each valve position are defined and programmed by pressing a button.
This provides significant time savings during installation and commissioning. SensoTop's closed design eliminates jamming risks and enables optimal cleaning of external surfaces even when valves are installed at the bottom of process tanks. Thanks to the all-around 360° LED display, the valve position is always visible from every angle.
